Claudia Crowie is a doctoral candidate in Anthropology at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, where she also worked as a teaching fellow. She is currently based in Berlin working with Prof. Martin Lüthe on his project entitled Critical Whiteness in Contemporary African American Media Networks, through his Einstein Junior Fellowship. Claudia is conducting field research for her dissertation project entitled, “An African Diaspora? Intersections of Migration, Difference and Politics in Berlin, Germany, which was funded by the National Science Foundation and the DAAD. This project explores the relationship between African migration to Berlin and Black political movements in the city. Claudia completed her Master’s degree in Anthropology on a Fulbright Fellowship in Arizona, in the USA. Prior to her studies in Anthropology, Claudia worked as an attorney in South Africa, where she also conducted research on the intersections of anti-foreigner violence, class and racialization.
